A story that is not about cold machines, engineers optimizing production runs, but rather about love, curious exploration and instilling thoughts and emotions into the weave. Every piece invites you to a shared journey. Learning your inspirations. Exploring design options. Touching and feeling different materials, looking for the perfect one. Rigging the loom, which requires endless focus, patience and humility. Weaving among the soft crackle of the loom’s wood. Taking the wrap off the loom, adding the final details by hand, smiling at the thought that you will soon be able to enjoy this finely crafted, individual item. The smell of yarn, the sound of the loom, the joy and awe at the beauty of handcrafted art – words cannot fully express it, so please find a moment to watch this short story.
This entire journey, which spans several weeks, takes place here in our Warsaw weaving studio. Meticulously creating your handwoven piece is a detailed, arduous and, above all, incredibly rewarding process. Each custom fabric starts with your specific and personal inspiration. I’m always curious and amazed to learn a piece of you, so you can simply share a picture, an idea, sketch, music or memory with me, so that I can instill it into your wrap.
The weaving process begins with selecting the finest quality yarn, fleeces or fibers from breeders from around the world. Once the design is ready and agreed with you, we measure out the quantity of yarn required to complete it. We choose undyed fibers for both their natural softness and lustre, as well as the infinite dyeing options they offer.
Our work is performed on wooden looms, with two distinct sets of yarns interlaced amongst the weft and warp to form different patterns and personalized designs. Every step is important. Handweaving takes great skill in rigging the loom, as well as during the weaving itself. Each strand of yarn must be positioned and tensioned correctly to achieve the exact pattern and quality of finish in the weaving. Fine craftsmanship and extreme attention to detail are the key here, ensuring that you will be awed by the resulting weave.
Once weaving is finished and the piece is cut off the loom, each one is hemstitched to secure loose threads. Then, before being sent to you, each item is individually hand- washed at specific temperatures appropriate for the material.
